TEACHERS — Permanent and one-year posts

Dear Head Teacher,
MPS Education was the first company to start supplying teachers for schools in Wales and is considered one of the most successful and professional education companies, with a valued reputation which is second to none.

In January 2002, MPS started a project of finding one-year contracts or permanent jobs for secondary teachers throughout England and Wales. We introduced over two hundred teachers to schools, with an excellent appointment success rate. MPS never advertised this facility and success has been built upon verbal recommendations from Head Teachers.

So why is MPS different from any other company involved in putting forward teachers for one year, or permanent teaching posts?
MPS has ex-Head Teachers of both secondary and primary sectors among its staff, who carry out most of the spadework — fellow professionals who have been successfully involved in education at senior management level, and each with at least thirty years experience, who are now using their skills as ‘head hunters’ in finding the right teachers for our partner schools.

Procedures followed include:

1. Schools are visited by one of our ex-Heads to discuss their requirements and to observe the school in action. Prospective candidates for the vacant positions are then informed of the ethos, academic achievement, social structures and support systems etc. as observed by MPS. Information about the costs of local accommodation, LEA/School assistance grants and places of interest in the area are also given to prospective candidates.
2. Candidates applying via MPS must present to us a full and up-to-date CV, a letter of application and two professional references. They are interviewed, wherever possible, in their local area before being accepted by MPS to be put forward to schools. The interview is to build a relationship between candidate and MPS so that when a teacher is put forward for a post, our staff know the teacher or NQT reasonably well.
3. The company also tries to develop a professional relationship between the school and the company, based upon trust and professional integrity. This is imperative for finding the right teacher for the school. Candidate details are given in trust to the school.
4. Costs
a. Newly Qualified Teachers are recruited from Wales, Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland and English Universities. More experienced teachers are also recruited from within the EU.
b. Travel and accommodation costs are borne by the school in the usual way, regardless of the country of original application.
c. All teachers presented to the schools for assessment/interview are expected to teach a sample lesson as part of the interview process.
d. A decision by the candidate to accept or decline a position, if offered, must be made on the day of the interview unless the school has a different policy or tradition.
e. Our Terms of Business are included for schools to read but, to simplify, a rebate is allowed on a decreasing scale over a period of thirteen weeks from the commencement of the appointment, if the candidate should leave in the first term.
f. All Teachers are employed by the School/LEA.
5. MPS has a database of both experiences and newly qualified teachers available for both supply and permanent posts.
